Norwich schedules meetings on proposed police station

Norwich – The City Council has scheduled six public informational meetings starting Tuesday on the proposal for a $33.4 million new police station in downtown Norwich at the former Sears building and several surrounding properties.

The Tuesday meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in Room 335 at Norwich City Hall.

Future meetings will be held July 17 at 6 p.m. at Otis Library, July 21 at 10 a.m. at the American Legion on Laurel Hill Ave., July 28 at 10 a.m. at Otis Library, Aug. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Kelly Middle School and Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus on South Second Avenue in Taftville.

The City Council will hold a public hearing  Aug. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall on an ordinance to place the $33.5 million bond proposal for the police station on the Nov. 6 ballot for referendum.
