All-Area Baseball Profiles

• St. Bernard junior Pete Aldrich was named the Most Valuable Player of his team, helping the Saints reach the Class S quarterfinals. He was an All-ECC Small Division selection as a pitcher. Aldrich is a two-time member of the All-Area team and was also named MVP of the St. Bernard boys' basketball team.

• Waterford senior James Annello led his team with a .435 average, 30 hits, 22 RBI and 14 doubles. Annello was named to the All-ECC Large Division team. He is an honor student who will attend Western Connecticut State University.

• Old Saybrook senior outfielder Justin Beal was one of the state's top hitters, finishing with a .475 average. He was named to the Class S all-state team and first team All-Shoreline Conference. Beal, also a football and basketball player at Old Saybrook, will play baseball at UConn-Avery Point.

• Lyman Memorial senior Keith Chamberlain had 23 hits and 18 RBI to lead the Bulldogs into the state Class S quarterfinals. Chamberlain was named to the All-ECC first team in the Small Division.

• East Lyme senior pitcher Pete Gonski was one of the league's top pitchers, finishing with an 8-1 record and a spot on the All-ECC Large Division team. Gonski also hit .305 with 16 RBI. He'll attend Eastern Connecticut State University.

• Montville senior left-hander Tre Gonzalez finished with an 8-1 record to lead his team. Gonzalez struck out 76 hitters in 55.1 innings. He was the winning pitcher in the 2010 Class M state championship game.

• Waterford junior Jordan Hamler was named to the All-ECC Large Division first team. Hamler was a pitcher and an infielder for the Lancers, who made the state quarterfinals. Hamler, also a member of the state championship boys' basketball team, is interested in several Division I baseball programs, including Hartford, UConn, Quinnipiac and Boston College.

• Montville senior Max Hart leaves among the program's most accomplished players. He hit .395 with 22 RBI, 30 runs scored and 14 stolen bases. He finishes as a three-time member of the All-ECC Medium Division team and won the school's Outstanding Male Athlete Award. He is a member of the National Honor Society and will attend Brandeis University.

• Fitch junior infielder Aaron Hill was named to the New Haven Register's All-State team as well as All-ECC Large Division. Hill hit .345 with 21 RBI, 21 runs scored, 11 stolen bases and 11 walks. Hill is a member of the National Honor Society and as won an academic award for language.

• East Lyme senior infielder Zach Kane was named to the All-ECC Large Division first team and to the Connecticut High School Coaches' Association all-star game. Kane hit .365 for the ECC tournament champs and had an on-base percentage of .450.

• East Lyme senior catcher Chase Livingston made the Class L all-state team and the Connecticut High School Coaches' Association all-star game. Livingston hit .384 with a .564 on base percentage, 24 RBI and nine doubles. Livingston won the school's Speech and Communications Award and is an honor student. Livingston will attend the University of Rhode Island to play baseball and study kinesiology.

• Fitch senior pitcher Jon Mewha was named to the Class L all-state team and also played in the Connecticut High School Coaches' Association all-star game. Mewha was the winning pitcher in the Falcons' Class L semifinal game over RHAM of Hebron. Mewha, who won eight games, will attend Liberty University.

• Fitch senior pitcher Shawn Nadeau was the winning pitcher in the Class L state championship game. He went 4-1 for the Falcons, also amassing a .380 average. Nadeau was named to the All-ECC Large Division team. He'll attend UConn-Avery Point.

• Montville senior Corey Wilcox was named to the Class M all-state team for the second straight season. He's also a two-time member of the All-ECC Medium Division team. Wilcox played on two state championship teams in his career. He is an honor student who won the Richard Craig Brown academic award at Montville. He'll attend Springfield College.
