Actress Valerie Azlynn, who grew up in New London and Waterford, has a new role - co-starring in the TBS comedy "Sullivan & Son." The show, about a guy who gives up his job as a corporate lawyer to run his family's bar, premieres at 10 p.m. Thursday. Azlynn (who changed the spelling of her last name from Asselin) plays an EMT named Melanie who is an old flame of the main character, played by Steve Byrne.

The series is executive-produced by Vince Vaughn, Peter Billingsley and Rob Long, who created the show with Byrne.

TBS developed "Sullivan & Son" to pair with reruns of "The Big Bang Theory."

Azlynn, by the way, had guested on "The Big Bang Theory." Her other credits include recurring roles on "Castle" and "Joey" and appearances in the films "Tropic Thunder" and "Hancock."
