Motorcycle crash sends one to hospital

Waterford — A motorcyclist was taken by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital Saturday after the motorcycle hit a curb on Old Norwich Road in the Quaker Hill section of town.

Police said they would not release the motorcyclist’s identity until they had notified family. The extent of the motorcyclist’s injuries are unknown.

The accident was reported around 7:26 p.m. The motorcycle was traveling northbound on Old Norwich Road when it crossed the center line and went through the southbound lane, police said. The motorcycle struck the southbound lane curbing and then re-entered the travel portion of the roadway, at which point the driver was ejected from the motorcycle.

Old Norwich Road remained closed for several hours while police investigated the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
