Seasonally speaking, it's not technically accurate for the Alexey von Schlippe Gallery of Art folks to call their new show a "Late Summer Exhibition." After all, the opening reception takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday - not even four weeks into summer proper. On the other hand, this is New England, where autumn basically takes over after Labor Day. What's important is that the show includes fine new works by Stephen Remick, Jim McKie, Helen Cantrell and Todd Gipstein. The exhibition is on view through Sept. 2 at the gallery at the Branford House Mansion, University of Connecticut's Avery Point Campus, Groton. Hours are noon-4 p.m. Wed.-Sun.; (860) 405-9052.
