Two people with local ties graduated from military training.

Gregory M. Hurlock, of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., graduated from the U.S. Military Academy on May 26. Hurlock is the grandson of Geri Evarts and the late Robert Evarts, of Mystic, and of Joan Hurlock and the late Ted Hurlock, of Groton. Hurlock, who studied electrical engineering, was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army. He begins helicopter flight school at Fort Rucker in Alabama in July.

Air Force Airman Kyle I. Schriever graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Schriever, who earned distinction as an honor graduate, is the son of Karl Schriever, of Norwich, and a 2004 graduate of Norwich Free Academy.
