Duane Maranda will be named the new head football coach at New London High School, sources confirmed to The Day on Wednesday afternoon.

Maranda, the head coach at Bacon Academy for six seasons, replaces Jeff Larson, who announced his resignation earlier Wednesday to accept an assistant principal's job at Hartford Classical. Larson was also the Whalers' athletic director.

Prior to coaching at Bacon, Maranda served as head coach of the St. Bernard/Norwich Tech cooperative program for three seasons.
