Waterbury, Conn. (AP) — Sprague Elementary School Principal Donna Perreault has resigned amid questions about her handling of teacher evaluations.

Waterbury school officials tell The Republican-American newspaper (http://bit.ly/MnCtRE ) that Perreault stepped down last Friday after acknowledging she forged the signatures of teachers on performance evaluation forms.

The district's policy calls for principals to discuss their evaluations with the teachers and have the teachers sign the document.

Perreault had been principal at the school since 1999, earning a salary of more than $111,000.

No criminal charges have been filed, but police say they are investigating.
