A poor job covering great East Lyme event

"Celebrate East Lyme Day" was a great day and I want to express my appreciation to the many individuals who contributed endless volunteer hours, to the many vendors along Main Street, and to those who made the great music, the raft race, sand castle building, fireworks, etc., possible.

My questions to The Day, however, are: Why did the Day staff writer, who covered the event, miss all that was going on? Did he get a free sandwich? Was he a relative? Or is he just plain incompetent?

Next year, please send a staff writer who will experience the total event. Nice job, East Lyme; shame on The Day.
