Freedom Fair kicks off Aug. 11

The Writers Block, InK, in collaboration with Connecticut Landmark's Hempsted House, announces its upcoming Freedom Fair Aug. 11 and 12 from 1 to 5 p.m. at The Hempsted House in New London.

The Freedom Fair is a two-day event with a performance by The Boys on the Block titled "Wealth in Skin: Creative Historical Freedom Stories," a montage of poetry, singing, spoken word and short scenes. The Writers Block, InK also will debut previews of its summer production, "Breaking Ground," a work that grapples with issues of homelessness, abuse, divorce and mending broken relationships.
