Show a heart, keep vital program going

The Lawrence & Memorial Hospital has recently cancelled a long-time cardiovascular rehabilitation program that they took over from the Groton Senior Center a couple of years ago. Since then L&M has made many changes to the program. Regardless of these changes this program is an important part of our continued efforts to keep healthy. We have been told by our cardiovascular doctors that exercise is important and to continue our exercise on a continual basis.

Since L&M is a health institution dedicated to helping people when they are sick, why are they cancelling a program our doctors have prescribed? A program that is dedicated to helping heart attack, stent and bypass patients to remain active and healthy ?

The cancellation of this program can cause participants to discontinue their exercise, thereby increasing their health risk.

L&M Hospital should reconsider its decision to cancel this program.
