Follow Prague's lead and support Osten

I urge Democrats in the 19th Senate District (Edith Prague's seat) to vote for Cathy Osten on Aug. 14. Cathy is one of the bravest and most loyal people I know. She stood up for women correction employees who were being sexually harassed by Department of Corrections managers, even when Rowland administration appointees tried to shut her up and back her down. At the risk of her correction lieutenant career, Osten advocated for the harassed workers and refused to back down.

This is the same kind of loyalty that Osten showed as a veteran of the U.S. Army. And while she is tough on crime, she has shown compassion and common sense. She testified at the Capitol to get mentally ill folks out of costly prisons where they don't belong, and into cheaper and more humane care.

Osten has done a stellar job of running the town of Sprague as first selectman. Osten has been an activist first selectman and won the trust of local residents, business people and town workers.

Osten is exactly what we need in Hartford. That is why Sen. Edith Prague is backing her. Please vote for Cathy Osten on Aug. 14.
