A Voluntown man was arrested early Wednesday morning after police received reports that he was drunk and had taken his 3-year-old daughter into the woods.

Edward Corrigan Jr., 49, is charged with risk of injury to a minor and disorderly conduct.

State police in Montville said they received a call Wednesday morning from Groton Fire Alarm reporting two 911 hang-ups from a home in North Stonington.

Police from the North Stonington Resident Trooper’s Office responded to the area and discovered that Corrigan, who was intoxicated, had fled with his daughter into the woods, police said.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection with its aircraft and a K-9 team tracked Corrigan for several miles in the woods. He eventually was found on Kinnie Road in Voluntown.

Corrigan was being held on a $5,000 bond, pending his arraignment Thursday in New London Superior Court.
