Coast Guard Academy has been picked to finish sixth in the Bogan Division in the New England Football Conference preseason coaches' poll.

The Bears were 2-7 overall in 2011, finishing sixth in the Bogan Division with a 2-5 record. Coast Guard lost five games by seven points or less, four of those in the final minute.

Coast Guard returns 16 starters, seven on offense and nine on defense, and will hold its first practice of the season on Saturday at 3 p.m.

The Bears open their 2012 season at home on Sept. 8 against the Merchant Marine Academy in the annual battle for the Secretaries' Cup at 2:30 p.m.

The Bogan Division coaches voted 2011 champion Framingham State and Bridgewater State as co-favorites to win the Division. Each school received four first-place votes and 58 points.
