CT voters can check their polling places, status online

Hartford – Secretary of the State Denise Merrill today unveiled a new online service to direct registered voters to their assigned polling site for Tuesday’s primary and all future elections.

The polling site locator features Google maps and can be accessed via the secretary of the state’s homepage, www.sots.ct.gov. Users must click on the red, white and blue “Where do I vote?” button on the right side of the screen, and then enter their address. The free service also can be downloaded as a smart phone application.

A second link on the website can confirm whether a voter is registered with a party and eligible to vote in the primary. Voters who are currently 17 but turn 18 before the Nov. 6 election are also eligible to vote in the Tuesday primary.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Merrill predicted a 30 percent turnout.
