I recently starting working in Groton and travel the "gateway" from Interstate 95 through downtown New London.

I drive through every night and notice that the wonderful "Welcome to New London" mural comprised of nautical flags is never lit up.

This main road into downtown doesn't light up until you pass the stop sign.

This was a beautiful gift from the Rotary and dedicated to Phil Turner, who was so instrumental in helping first-time owners experience the joy that is New London.

Please light up the mural, on a timer if you must, but to see it dark (always), is depressing and not at all a proper welcome.
