Toto the Tornado Kitten makes an appearance Thursday at the Rutland, Mass., public library during an eponymous book reading by author Jonathan Hall. Toto was a 6-ounce kitten when he was rescued after an EF3 tornado struck Brimfield, Mass., on June 1, 2011. The Animal Rescue League of Boston ended up taking the kitten, who'd been rescued by a tree worker the day after the tornado hit. The kitten was called Toto, after the dog from "The Wizard of Oz." Since then, the gray-and-white cat has become a local celebrity, the protagonist of a children's book (Hall's), a Facebook personality and a fundraiser for the Animal Rescue League of Boston.
