East Lyme — State police charged an inmate at York Correctional Institution with several offenses after she allegedly assaulted three correction officers Monday afternoon.
After she allegedly hit a captain with a shower curtain rod around 1:30 p.m. Monday, Alyssa Fearon, 21, was charged with second-degree assault, three counts of assault on a correction officer and reckless endangerment.
Police said Fearon hit state Department of Correction Capt. Sharon McLauren with a curtain rod in the restricted housing unit and then injured correction officers Russell Haines and Jimmy Anderson as they took control of her. McLauren was taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for a head injury, while Haines and Anderson were treated for injuries to the shoulder and knee. All three were treated and released.
Fearon was released back to Department of Correction custody and held in lieu of a $75,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear Monday in New London Superior Court.
Fearon has multiple criminal convictions as well as other cases pending in court.
Has the campaigning in this year's presidential race reached a new level of incivility?
