Groton Town police charge six with DWI

Groton — Town Police charged six people with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs while conducting regional sobriety check points on Saturday.

Charged were Kevin C. Cook Jr., 26, of 37 Tower Ave.; Brian R. Oppy, 38, of 55 Mirra Dr.; Cody Chapman, 28, of 83 Leafwood Lane, unit 219; Kirk Roberts, 22, 1 Crystal Lake Rd., Timothy Salmon, 64, of 5 Maid Marion Dr., Gales Ferry and Charles Roberts Jr., 44, of 10 Wampanoag Ave., Westerly.

In addition to the six arrests, police issued two citations for possession of marijuana; 10 for various motor vehicle violations and approximately 25 warnings for equipment violations.

Ledyard, Montville and state police also participated in the check points.
