Classes graduate from Naval Submarine School

Groton — Two classes recently graduated from the Naval Submarine School. Eighty-five sailors, “Class 12380,” USS Hoe (SS-258), graduated from Basic Enlisted Submarine School Aug. 24. Builder Second Class Kafele Wilks was the class honorman. Seaman Apprentice Cody Ayers received the Navy Core Values Award. Seaman Recruit Drew Bogard, the class leader, received the Heritage Award and Seaman Apprentice Daniel Wilhelmsen was meritoriously advanced. Operations Specialist Second Class Matthew Heider, Seaman Recruit Stephen Reynolds, Seaman Recruit Tanner Harmon, Seaman Recruit Phillip Vrieling, Seaman Matthew Elliott, Seaman Kevin Claeys, Logistics Specialist Second Class John Asaro, Seaman Recruit Tyler Andrews, Seaman Apprentice Timothy Standford, Seaman Apprentice Daniel Peacock, Seaman Stewart Rowan, Gas Turbine System Technician. Electrical Second Class Chanrathana Phun, Seaman Recruit Phillip Luong, Machinist Mate First Class James Seeley, Seaman Apprentice Cody Ayers, Logistics Specialist First Class Joel Diric, Wilhelmsen and Wilks were graduates with distinction. Seventeen members of “Class 12030” graduated from the Submarine Officer Advanced Course Aug. 24. Lt. Kevin Behm, the class honor graduate, received the L. Y. Spear Award. Lt. Joshua Hausbach received the David Lloyd Award for Excellence. Lt. Thomas Digan received the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Award. Behm and Lt. William Sheridan were named graduates with distinction.
