Hearst Connecticut names group chief

Hearst Newspapers announced Wednesday that Paul Farrell has been named group publisher of Hearst Connecticut Newspapers.

As Connecticut Group Publisher, Farrell will have responsibility for the performance across Hearst's media companies in the state, which includes four dailies - The Connecticut Post in Bridgeport, The News-Times in Danbury, The Advocate in Stamford and Greenwich Time - and seven weekly newspapers in Fairfield County. John DeAugustine had been acting as group publisher previously and will remain publisher of the Connecticut Post.

Farrell joins Hearst from Lee Enterprises where he was senior vice president of sales and marketing since 2007.
