Westerly - A Westerly resident died Friday night after the operator's motorcycle collided with a sport utility vehicle on Post Road, Westerly police said Saturday morning.
The motorcyclist, a 43-year-old, has not yet been identified by police. They said the motorcycle appeared to be traveling north on Post Road before it was involved in the crash, which was reported at 8:26.
The operator was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle, a Dodge Durango, was transported to Westerly Hospital where she was treated and released. Police have identified her only as a 28-year-old female.
Post Road was closed until 11:30 p.m. in response to the crash. Police said more details will become available as the investigation continues.
