Police investigate reports of shots fired in New London

New London - City police said Saturday they are investigating reports of shots being fired downtown Friday night near State and Washington streets.

Police said in a brief news release that they received multiple reports of shots being fired, but no victims were found at the scene when officers arrived.

Several shell casings were recovered.

The detective division is assisting in the investigation, the press release said.

The incident occurred after 11 p.m., but the exact time was not immediately available from police.
