The Connecticut Sun hold the WNBA's best road record at 10-2, an outstanding distinction to have considering the Sun are in the middle of a four-game road trip.

After winning in Chicago, then ending San Antonio's nine-game home winning streak on Thursday, Connecticut takes on Atlanta at 3 p.m. today (CPTV, CPTV Sports).

The Sun (19-6) have already clinched a playoff berth and are looking to sew up first place in the Eastern Conference, currently leading Indiana (17-8) by two games. The Fever beat Chicago 81-64 on Saturday night.

Against San Antonio, Tina Charles led the way with 22 points and coach Mike Thibault earned the 200th win of his career, joining former Houston Comets coach Van Chancellor as the only two to achieve that milestone.

In Atlanta, the Dream (13-13) have faced a disconcerting situation, as Angel McCoughtry, an Olympic gold medalist and the WNBA's leading scorer (22.2 ppg), was suspended indefinitely and coach Marynell Meadors was fired. Meadors was an assistant coach for the Olympic team under UConn's Geno Auriemma.

In a story by the Associated Press, new coach Fred Williams said he's given McCoughtry a list of requirements she must meet before she can be reinstated. The Dream were hoping to win their third straight Eastern Conference title.

Auriemma tweeted in support of Meadors after she was fired: "@marynellmeadors gets fired atlanta owners cave in inmate in charge."

The Sun are led by Charles with 18.2 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. They return home Sept 7 against Phoenix.
