    Art in bloom

“Thatchbed Island on Middle Cove, Essex” by Leif Nilsson

Several local artists are banding together to support Jack of All Hearts (JOAH), a Branford-based nonprofit outfit that provides funding for cardiothoracic research and supports families of children with congenital heart defects.

Linda Bronson, Caryn B. Davis, Leif Nilsson and Glynnis Sorrentino are each donating a piece of work to the “Art in Bloom” exhibition in The Gallery, 85 Main St., Centerbrook. (Nilsson’s “Thatchbed Island on Middle Cove, Essex” is shown here.) Opening reception takes place at 6 p.m. Friday with a fundraising raffle. Tickets are $25, and all proceeds go directly to JOAH. Show runs through Oct. 6. Hours 1-5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Friday has extended hours until 8 p.m.
