New London -- The Republican Town Committee voted Tuesday not to support the $42.3 million general government budget which is going to referendum Tuesday.
The committee passed a resolution urging members to vote no, because, in part, the spending plan, which represents a 1.91-mill increase in taxes, lacks details and does not include all line items in the budget.
“In discussions, the committee suggested that overtime, salaries, and new positions be reduced to cover lowering taxes,’’ according to statement released by the committee on Wednesday.
