Borough series considers art of philanthropy

La Grua Center presents Alice Fitzpatrick on Sunday, Sept. 23, at 5 p.m. as part of its Burrowing into the Borough Series.

A Stonington resident and president of the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut, Fitzpatrick will discuss philanthropy and the impact of the new economy on traditional ways of giving. She will share five stories of local people and their funds from the annals of the Community Foundation. Fitztpatrick will be joined by Mary Alice Smith of Newport, R.I., and Charles T. Clark of Stonington, both of whom have extensive experience in fundraising and development for area organizations and schools.

This event is open to the public and free of charge. Parking for La Grua Center is in the Main/North lot of Stonington Commons at 32 Water St.
