Sun win, close in on Eastern title

The Connecticut Sun reduced their magic number to one over Indiana to clinch the WNBA's Eastern Conference regular season championship and top seed in the playoffs, beating the Seattle Storm 60-58 Sunday night at Seattle.

Renee Montgomery made two free throws with 14.4 seconds left to clinch the win. Connecticut improved to 23-9 and moved two games ahead of Indiana.

Kara Lawson led the Sun with 13 points, Tina Charles added 12, and Mistie Mims had 11 points and 11 rebounds.

One more Connecticut victory or Indiana loss gives the Sun their fourth regular season title in franchise history. The Sun can clinch as early as tonight if Indiana loses at Minnesota. Indiana plays at Mohegan Sun Arena on Wednesday.
