New Britain (AP) — A Central Connecticut running back has been arrested on a burglary charge and suspended from the team.
The New Britain Herald reports 20-year-old Jacob Lavender of Enfield is accused of entering a home in New Britain on May 11 and threatening a resident with a knife. Charges were filed Sept. 13.
The sophomore, who has not played this season, told police he did not have a weapon and went to the house searching for someone who had punched him in the face.
Lavender also is listed on the Judicial Branch website as a defendant in a case that has been sealed from public view.
Lavender did not respond to an email or telephone message seeking comment.
Central Connecticut spokesman Thomas Pincince says the school is taking the incident seriously.
As the election approaches, which of the two major political parties do you think is more in touch with the average American?
