They are among 31 towns statewide to share $10.9 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through the Small Cities Community Development Block Grant. Preston and Waterford will receive $300,000 apiece, Old Saybrook $471,000 and Jewett City $445,840.

Preston is expected to rehabilitate 10 low- and moderate-income housing units including roof replacement, heating systems, window and door replacement, lead paint and asbestos removal, electrical and code upgrades.
