New London -- Re-enactor Kevin Johnson will portray Civil War soldier William Webb at 7 p.m. Sept. 27 at a meeting of the Friends of Fort Trumbull at Fort Trumbull State Park Conference Center, 90 Walbach St.

Johnson will present a portrayal of Private Webb, an actual soldier who was a native of Hartford, recruited in 1863 to serve in the Twenty-Ninth (Colored) Regiment. “Webb” will arrive wearing a historically accurate uniform of his regiment.

Johnson, an employee of the State Library’s History and Genealogy Unit, based his presentation on extensive research at the State Library. He has been given more than 400 performances over the last 14 years.
