Portraits of courage at Tsetse Gallery

Tsetse Gallery of New London and Providence, R.I., present "Living Courage," a breast cancer awareness project opening in New London on Wednesday, Oct. 3, with a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The project opens in Providence on Thursday, Oct. 18.

The exhibit features a dozen live mannequins cast in white marble, bronze and silver who will share real stories about life after being diagnosed with breast cancer. There also will be a presentation by international presenter and author Leslie Karen Hammond, who will be dressed as a warrior mannequin. Hammond will speak on practices for early detection.

Complementing these presentations will be a dual month-long exhibit of paintings, sculpture and a compilation of stories written by survivors.

Tsetse Gallery is at 190 State St., New London.
