Mashantucket — A Norwich woman was arrested Tuesday after state police said she embezzled money from the Connecticut Community Credit Union at 350 Trolley-Line Boulevard.
Police said they began their investigation on Sept. 10. Credit union officials reported suspicious activity during a bank audit in which an undisclosed amount of money was missing from a bank vault.
Detectives assigned to the State Police Casino Unit investigated the complaint and identified Yolanda T. O'Keefe as the person responsible for embezzling the money.
O'Keefe, 62, of 55 North Cliff St., was charged with first-degree larceny. Police did not say how much money was stolen, but someone is charged with first-degree larceny when more than $10,000 is stolen.
O'Keefe was also arraigned Tuesday in New London Superior Court. She is out on a $20,000 bond. Her next court date is scheduled for Oct. 16.
