Autumn in New England is glorious - the foliage fires up with color, of course, but inviting, too, is the crisp, cool weather.

No wonder people want to head outside at this time of year. And if you're looking for something to do in The Great Outdoors, The Last Green Valley is here to provide with you options. Lots and lots of options. TLGV's 22nd annual Walktober offers about 100 walks this year, most in eastern Connecticut and a select few in Massachuetts.

• "Harvest Moon Hike Along the Shetucket." 7 p.m. Saturday, Sprague; meet at Giddings park on Route 207, Franklin. Should take 2.5 hours.

• "Forgotten Willlimantic," 2 p.m. Wednesday, Main Street to Jillson Square parking lot. "Walk on the streets that were taken away by redevelopment, hear local anecdotes, view historic photos." Should take 1.75 hours.

• "Nibbling on the Wild Landscape of The Last Green Valley," 3 p.m. Oct. 4, Preston. Led by expert forager Russ Coehn, author of "Wild Plants I Have Known ... and Eaten."
