Two injured in Ledyard crash

Ledyard — Two people were injured early this morning in two-car head on crash on Route 177 just south of Lorenz Parkway, according to police.

Both drivers were trapped inside of their vehicles after the 2:43 a.m. crash and had to be extricated by firefighters from the Ledyard, Gales Ferry, Center Groton and Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department.

Jen Macomber, 32, of Colonel Ledyard Highway, who was driving a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe, was taken to William W. Backus Hospital. Ivantilton Pires De Miranda, 36, of New London, who was driving a 1998 Plymouth Voyager, was taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital. The accident remains under investigation.
