The Day announces details for McMahon, Murphy debate Oct. 15; will be streamed live on theday.com
Those planning to attend the Oct. 15 Senate debate at the Garde Arts Center in New London between Republican candidate Linda McMahon and Democratic candidate Rep. Chris Murphy should be prepared to arrive early because interest in the event appears high.
The debate will be telecast live on MyTV9 by WTNH from 7 to 8 p.m. without commercial interruption. It will also be livestreamed on www.theday.com and www.WTNH.com. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m. and audience members must be in their seats by 6:45 p.m.
A line can be expected to form outside for this free event. The Garde is ready to offer assistance and easier entry for those in wheelchairs or who, because of other special needs, find it physically difficult to wait in line. Doors will remain open as long as seats remain available or the deadline for entry passes.
A few other rules for those attending:
-- The use of laptops, cell phones, cameras or any other electronic device during the debate is prohibited.
-- People are asked not to enter or leave during the televised debate unless due to emergency.
-- Campaign or other political signs, placards, shirts, hats and all such materials and clothing are prohibited within the auditorium.
-- Audience members are asked to refrain from applauding or in other ways demonstrating support for or opposition to a candidate during the debate.
