NL joins in World Music Day

Local musicians will join an international network of performers on Friday, Oct. 19, in New London as part of the annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days concert series.

The 6:30 p.m. show will take place at the Bean & Leaf Café's new location, 461 Bank St.

The concert series is named for Daniel Pearl, a Wall Street Journal reporter and amateur violinist who was kidnapped and killed in Pakistan in 2002.

In the spirit of Pearl's love of music and belief in its ability to bridge differences among people, the Daniel Pearl Foundation launched World Music Days on Oct. 10, 2002.

Among those scheduled to perform in New London are Mike Bailey, John Beaty, The Crew, Pat Daddona, Will D'Sol, Kevin Dyer, Steve Fagin, Golden Ratio, Bruce McDermott, Lorain Ohio, Gaetano Patalano and John "Woody" Wood.
