New London — The lawyer for Police Chief Margaret Ackley said Friday that Ackley expects the matter that led to a predisciplinary hearing conducted by Mayor Daryl Justin Finizio to be resolved soon.
Finizio said after the hearing Thursday that he would wait to make a decision on what action, if any, he will take for about a week to allow Ackley’s attorney to pursue some “legitimate” points raised at the hearing.
The hearing was the result of an investigation by the city’s labor attorney into emails between the chief and a private citizen.
Ackley could not be reached for comment Thursday but on Friday directed The Day to her attorney, Richard Padykula.
“We appreciate the mayor’s willingness to keep an open mind with regard to the legitimate questions raised by Chief Ackley,” Padykula said. “We anticipate this matter will be resolved soon. We look forward to working with the mayor’s office toward the resolution of this matter.”
Mitt Romney and other conservatives have called for the end of government subsidies to public broadcasting. Do you think tax dollars should go to PBS and NPR?
