Gunshot victim unnoticed for hours in running car

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Police say a bloodied body in a running car failed to catch the attention of passersby for several hours in a residential Bridgeport neighborhood.

The Connecticut Post reports that the victim, who has not been officially identified, was riddled by bullets and was in the car with its windshield wipers going hours after it stopped raining on Wednesday. The man's body was not discovered until 6 p.m. by a police officer on patrol.

Police say the officer and a state employee banged on the window. The man's body was slumped over the steering wheel.

Neighbors told police they heard gunshots at about 11 a.m., but no one reported a shooting.

A police spokesman says residents near the public housing complex are used to unusual noises, even gunshots.
