Laura Hibbard and Gary Chapman have had a few months to spin out the concept for the 2012-13 season of classical music in their much-loved Sundays in the Parlor at Park series.

As usual, fans will be surprised and enchanted by the variations in theme, repertoire and guest musicians - as with Sunday's inaugural program taking place in the parlor at the Park Congregational Church in Norwich.

Clarinetist Kelli O'Connor, a Park regular, is featured in three separate selections by Lutoslawski, Szalowski, and Canadian composer Gary Kulesha. The latter piece features bass clarinetist Andy Grenci.

As for Hibbard and Chapman's piano sparkle, look forward to Busoni's Fantasy on Themes from Bizet's Carmen and Debussy's Suite Bergamasque with the third movement, Clair de Lune. (Personally, I think it's damned time someone brought back Clair de Lune, which has become something of a passé selection with the Classical People.)

When Chapman suggests the reception will "be up to our unassailable standards," I think you can trust him - although this is a man who has suggested that his cats write the Parlor press releases.
