The two major party candidates in the 2nd Congressional District, Democrat Rep. Joe Courtney and his Republican challenger, East Lyme First Selectman Paul Formica, will take part in a one-hour debate Monday.
The debate will be held at 7 p.m. in Palmer Auditorium on the campus of Connecticut College in New London and will be open to the public. The debate is a cooperative effort of The Day, Conn College and Connecticut Public Television (CPTV), which will telecast the event.
Those attending must be seated 10 minutes before the debate. No political signs and other campaign paraphernalia are allowed. The debate will be covered live on CPTV stations and streamed on theday.com.
Three reporters will ask the candidates questions, and both will have two minutes for a first response or rebuttal. They will then have a minute each for a rebuttal before the next question.
