Norwich – An Oakdale man was arrested on burglary and larceny charges after a Laurel Hill Avenue homeowner called police Friday night to say the house had been broken into and a man was running down the street.

Police stopped Jason Carson, 27, of 1650 Old Colchester Road, Oakdale, a short distance from the house and allegedly found him in possession of burglary tools and some property from the house. A bag containing a small safe and other items was found on the ground near Carson, police said.

Carson was charged at 8:58 p.m. Friday with first-degree burglary, first-degree larceny, possession of burglary tools and third-degree criminal mischief. He was held in lieu of a $50,000 bond and will be arraigned Monday in Norwich Superior Court.
