FEMA disaster recovery centers opening in Groton, Old Saybrook
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy on Saturday announced that additional FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers are now open in New Haven, Old Saybrook and Groton to assist homeowners and businesses affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Malloy, on Friday, announced the opening of disaster recovery centers in Bridgeport and Greenwich.
Residents and businesses in Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London Counties who suffered damage as a result of Storm Sandy are encouraged to register with FEMA before visiting the recovery center by either calling (800) 621-FEMA (3362) or by visiting www.DisasterAssistance.gov. For those with speech or hearing disabilities, the TTY number is (800) 462-7585.
Hours of operation for each of the centers is 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The recovery centers are located in Groton at the Groton Senior Center at 102 Newtown Road and in Old Saybrook at the Department of Police Services at 6 Custom Drive.
"The opening of these centers represents one more step forward in the effort to get our residents' lives back to normal as quickly as possible," Malloy said. "Any individuals or businesses who have suffered losses or damages as a result of Storm Sandy should visit a center and work with the staff there to review the benefits they are entitled to."
