Police make arrest in Ledyard car crash

Ledyard —A Ledyard woman was charged Monday with assault with a motor vehicle after police said she was driving under the influence when she caused a serious accident on Sept. 30 on Route 117.

Jennifer A. Macomber, 32, of 890 Colonel Ledyard Highway, was charged with second-degree assault with a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Police said at about 2:44 a.m. Macomber caused a head-on accident on Route 117 near the Groton Town line. Police said she seriously injured 36-year-old Ivantilton Pires De Miranda, of New London, who was driving a 1998 Plymouth Voyager.

Macomber is scheduled to be arraigned today in New London Superior Court.
