    No. 8 Montville upsets No. 1 Wolcott 32-14 in Class M quarters

    Wolcott — Jeremiah Crowley rushed for a pair of touchdowns as eighth-seeded Montville upset No. 1 Wolcott 32-14 on Wednesday night in the quarterfinals of the Class M state football playoffs.

    The Indians (9-2) will play No. 4 Hillhouse in Sunday's semifinals at a site and time to be determined.

    Leading 19-14 at the half, Crowley ran 50 yards for a touchdown with 5:01 left in the third quarter to give Montville a 25-14 lead, and Izak Tibbets broke the game opoen just 1:13 into the fourth quarter with an 18-yard TD run on his first carry of the night.

    Quarterback Nick Clemons ran 14 yards for a touchdown late in the first half to give Montville the lead for good, 19-14, late in the first half.

    The Indians, who trailed 7-0 early, tied the game on a 16-yard touchdown run by Crowley with 7:47 left in the first quarter and opened a 13-7 lead when Buddy Dewaine intercepted a pass and returned it 88 yards for a touchdown.
