I would like to comment on some letters to the editor concerning the November election. One letter, "Economic theorist vs. right-wing doomsters," (Nov. 20), said we should follow the advice of the economist Paul Krugman. Among other blunders Mr. Krugman prophesied the Reagan tax cuts would lead to an economic downturn. President Reagan followed the advice of the Nobel prize winning economist Milton Friedman and turned the economy around. Another letter claimed that the "Republicans have become irrelevant," (Nov. 23). There are 30 Republican governors. President Obama was re-elected by a small margin in the popular vote, hardly a mandate.
Before Democrats and liberals get too smug and cocky they should pay heed to this Chinese proverb: "Be careful of what you wish for you might get it."

The 'grinding' dance style has sparked controversy at East Lyme High School. Should this form of dancing be banned at school dances?
