Norwich — Norwich police and the Yantic Volunteer Fire Department will team up for a toy and food drive Saturday, and state police will also hold its own annual “Stuff a Cruiser” toy drive.
The Norwich event, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Stop & Shop at 42 Town St., will include a “Stuff a Cruiser” toy drive for the police department. Any unwrapped, new toy will be accepted, with the gifts going to “Toys for Tots.”
The Yantic Volunteer Fire Department will simultaneously conduct a food drive for nonperishable food donations.
Meanwhile, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, off-duty troopers at all state police barracks, including the Montville barracks on Interstate 395 in Uncasville, will collect toys for needy families. The new, unwrapped toys will be donated to The William W. Backus Hospital and Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.
The 'grinding' dance style has sparked controversy at East Lyme High School. Should this form of dancing be banned at school dances?
