New London - Mitchell College junior Anthony Epps was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week in men's basketball on Monday.
Epps averaged a team-high 28.5 points per game last week in wins over Western Connecticut State University and Daniel Webster College.
Epps scored a season-high 30 points on 11-for-15 shooting against WCSU. He had a team-high 27 points and added eight rebounds against Daniel Webster. He shot 70 percent overall from the field in the two games.
• Connecticut College junior midfielder Aina Torres has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-New England Region Team.
Torres made an immediate impact in her first year with the program, scoring two goals and assisting on four others for a total of eight points.
"We are all happy for Aina because she is worthy of the All-Region selection," coach Norm Riker said.
• Dana Tricarico of East Lyme helped lead Siena College to a program-best second place finish in a field of 13 teams at the ECAC Swimming Championships recently in East Meadow, N.Y.
Tricarico, a junior team captain, had three top 10 finishes, including second place in the 400 yard freestyle relay and fourth in the 200 freestyle relay. Tricarico also placed ninth in the 50 free and 12th in the 100 free.
• Freshman Amy Roberts came off the bench to score a team-high 14 points and sophomore Mary Roberts added 12 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals in Holy Family's 45-27 win over Norwich Tech in the Constitution State Conference.
Shelby Grauer had 11 points and six rebounds for Holy Family (2-1). Connor Sulicek had nine points for Norwich Tech (1-1).
