Norwich — School officials will hold a public meeting 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Kelly Middle School to discuss school safety procedures in light of Friday’s mass school shooting in Newtown.

Superintendent Abby I. Dolliver said the meeting would give parents an opportunity to share any concerns they have about school safety. She also said police and fire officials would be on hand to discuss the school’s safety procedures.

Dolliver said staff from the central office went to the schools Monday morning and found that it was “business as usual.” Staff also held an early morning meeting to discuss the tragedy.

She said she plans to meet with school principals Tuesday to see if any issues arose Monday.

According to Norwich Free Academy’s website, school psychologists, social workers, counselors, administrators, faculty and staff would be available to help “students to cope with the complex emotions such an event causes.”
