Time to rewrite the gun amendment

Rep. Joe Courtney and Sen. Richard Blumenthal, the time is now for a constitutional amendment:

"State and local governments may pass laws or regulations regulating the ownership or possession of weapons as are deemed necessary to maintain public safety within their jurisdictions. The federal government may ban private ownership or possession of weapons whose ability to rapidly kill large numbers of people renders them as weapons of mass destruction."

If you do not like my words, choose your own. What is the purpose of having high office if you cannot act in the interests of your constituents?
